SOMIC, with just a few employees to start with, is founded in Vogtareuth in Upper Bavaria, Germany. Transport and stacking systems are produced first, soon to be followed by packaging machines for soft cheese.
Just 4 years later, ownership is taken of new company building in neighbouring Wasserburg am Inn. The foundation stones for SOMIC's core business are laid. Carton erectors and insertion packers follows soon.
The first complete packaging lines are developed and manufactured. Although the mainstay was still the cheese industry, other sectors of the food industry followed. Tea, coffee, chocolate and snacks and even pet food expand the product range.
SOMIC now specialises solely in collating and cartoning systems for the outer packaging process.
Highly-modern servo/IPC technology catches on SOMIC systems. A completely new, modular machine program is developed, enabling practically never-ending flexibility. Standardised mechanical and electronic modules create the breakthrough for increasingly higher performance ranges.
The new, future-oriented headquarters is constructed in Amerang. Sales are almost doubled over the next 2 years. Over 100 employees now achieve sales over 10 million Euro.
Founding of Somi Con Transportanlagen GmbH. Expansion of the Competence Center for all product handling and transport jobs. The Competence Center holds an autonomous position in the market with its proprietary program.
Thanks to friendly customer relations, innovation and impeccable quality, SOMIC assumes a leading position in its market sector. So we are proud to have won an award for Bavaria's Best 50 in 2004.
Another extension building is commissioned. This created space for sales and marketing, testing machine and development and most importantly for training our rising generation.
